Therapy for Children & TeenagersFor Children (under 12): Children often act out behaviorally when there has been an upset in the family or they have experienced a trauma. I use a variety of modalities to help kids make sense of these big changes including art therapy, sand tray therapy, and play therapy. I have extensive experience working with kids and parents to deal with issues such as depression and trauma. I typically work alongside parents to give them specific tools and homework in order to support their children’s healing process and in shaping behavior in a positive, proactive way. For Teens (12 and over): Being a teenager is hard enough, but sometimes depression, school stress, family problems, or trauma can make being a teen that much harder. Counseling for a teen is a confidential place for them to learn coping skills to deal with problems, reduce the potential long-term impact of emotional issues, and increase a teen’s ability to have healthy relationships with friends AND family. I have extensive experience working with teens and I will often include homework assignments for parents as well to increase their understanding of how to improve their relationship with their teens and reduce conflict in the home. Call or e-mail today to find out how we can work together at helping your child or teen. I offer a free 20-minute phone consult so we can discuss how to reach your goals.
